If you haven’t seen the film Drive by now, you definitely have been hiding under a rock.
But this isn’t just about the film Drive, its an edit to a track released by Kid Cudi’s new project/rock band WZRD.
The song Teleport 2 Me, Jamie (feat. Desire) at first I was thinking, WHY?..
After a couple of plays, the intro just stuck, looping in my head and then *TING*
PUT THE DRIVE film and the journey of Ryan Gosling to this track.. A perfect MATCH!..
So far so good, a minute and thirty seconds in, Cudi starts to sing some NA NA NA NAAAA sh*t..
MAJOR PROBLEM!.. there’s no way I’m getting some visuals with that. But with enough patience, it all fit into place.
The original edit was only a minute and thirty, with a shitty fade..Whatever..
This edit below is more the journey of TELEPORTATION between one person to another.
To what seemed at first a guy who is gentle, sweet and ever so smooth with his toothpick turn into some CLASS A PSYCHOPATH ASSASIN BURNING WITH DESIRE TO KILL KILL KILL.. Didn’t see that one coming, not in the slightest!
If I did have all the rushes that Nicolas Winding Refn put together, I literally would just have the camera flying through the city scape at night, HOW AMAZING IS THAT INTRO????
WOW! Really didn’t expect to blog this because this week has been super long and also a trip to the dentist who told me an ‘Alien‘ wants to grow out of my JAW! *TOUGH SHIT!* But, my eyes did open up and i also managed to crease a smile when some of the scenes started to track certain parts of the body!
The video covers a the day to day happenings of Verbal and Yoon and what they get up to from morning to evening, from selecting their pieces of jewelry, designing bits and bobs in the creative offices, Djing in the eveing with SoMe, not to mention a fish follows them around through their journeys! Directed by Yué WU, who has also worked on Kid Cudi’s ‘Day ‘n’ ‘Nite’. Some of the shots do look like they have been directly ripped from Gasper Noe’s Enter the Void! Not too sure about this.
Whats really interesting is the intimate details that are captured with certain shots, like the book collection which includes the ‘Los Logos‘ Series, which is great for those days when nothing makes any sense…There are currently ten tracks in total to download for FREE from the Dr Martens website!, *Highly Recommended*, other artists include N.A.S.A., The Cinematic Orchestra, Buraka Som Sistema, DāM-FunK and the Noisettes.
