These are simple dope videos that vans have put together on various individuals, mainly creatives about their craft. Nice visuals for this one and I am definitely visiting Hong Kong sooner rather than later to see the environment and the area itself, which looks amazing! Video after the stills below.
For this installment of Offthewall.tv’s interview series with Vans’ current OTW Advocates, we catch up with designer, artist and business man Chris Kong in Hong Kong to get a deeper look into what inspires one of today’s most legendary toy designers.
Never really understood what Johny meant when he told me that the city of Paris grabs you, recent visit with a 14mm wide angled lens helped me capture that idea. Exploring by intuition and not using google maps on your phone. Thats when you realise, being in the right place at the RIGHT time counts for everything, by that I mean the film and pictures below. Enjoy the birds, the old woman luckily didn’t scream when I rushed towards her.
This year is all about FINISHING POWER! Having an idea or thought and running through it without getting distracted.
This episode of PP Presents focusses on INSA‘s exhibition – ‘Girls on Bikes‘, which happened at the Protein Gallery last year. Click below to see what you missed out on.
What better track to suit this piece: Drake – Cameras / Good Ones Go (Interlude).
For the past month or so Dan Hillier’s illustrations have been presented at the Dalston Print House reception, which also doubles up as an exhibition space – DOPE!
It is really difficult to walk by this reception and NOT pay any attention to his work; its slightly dark, surreal and most definitely thought-provoking, definitely ticks all the boxes for me. I found myself picking up on details that I failed to notice the first time round and also thinking about the story that each piece is trying to tell.
This episode of PP Presents wasn’t planned, at the right place at the right time I guess! Lee, Portia, Husk and myself ended up here after missing the 6 o’clock screening of ‘Tree of Life’ due to the rush hour through the busiest parts of East London – Hackney – SHAME! BTW, ‘Tree of Life’ is SH*T, it does have its moments, but mostly filled mad abstract pieces of dialogue and visuals. I don’t even want to start with the dinosaurs now, how did he win that Palm D’ior award??? OK enough!
The whole idea of doing the actual interview happened when I was speaking to Sam, who just happened to be around downstairs. I did want to film his work, and mostly storyboarded all the shots in my head, but without the artist himself. This day happened to be 2 weeks since he opened and was the main launch for his illustrations!
One of the biggest problems I found with filming on Canon SLR camera’s is the SOUND! MAJOR ISSUES came from the sound, it can literally make or break your edit. Sam had a zoom mic upstairs so we approached Dan to see if he would be up for doing a ‘spur-of-the-moment’ kind of video interview.
This is the result below, it also happened to be a really nice sunny evening, with NO rain..!
You can still see Dan Hillier’s illustrations until the 31st of July at the Dalston Print House, Ashwin Street, so HURRY!
Thanks to Husk and Lee for having the patience and helping me make some sense of this edit, they’ve seen the edit like 50 billion times!
We are looking for people to do interviews with, we are open for suggestions so comment below or email us!
Enjoy,Share and get in touch!
See you at the next episode!
PP!
