“26th August, the day of the play test. This is when we took the three games we have been working on; Flags, Blocks and Hoops and opened it up to a select few to test them out and see how well they work as games. The play test was something we were all excited about, but I couldn’t help but feel a little anxious about it. How embarrassing would it have been if we spent months designing these games that everyone thought really sucked.
Well it would have taken a very cynical person to think that our games were bad because we had events company; Amplify on our side and they are big time heavy weights in the industry. They spent ten days designing and putting together our play test kit and magically turned, what look like the bottom of an old warehouse into a very impressive gaming room.
The day was great and full of fun. We had about fifty energetic gamers come down to the secret location in Shoreditch and they all seem to really enjoy themselves and the games. It’s mine and my team mate Zane’s job to promote the game Flags, which I have to say was quite popular on the day. We played three different versions of the game in a tournament style which went down a storm. The feedback that we got from the play test really helped us to see what we could do to make the game even better.”
