Great and small things happen when you patiently watch and listen to bullshit constantly on the TV and radio.
YES! The Bullitts is exactly that, the group consists of Jeymes Samuel,Lucy Lui and Jay Electronica!
I can’t describe it completely, but its a mix of spoken word, guitar rifts and usually a dope hiphop beat,
Almost like a cinematic experience, the visuals they’ve produced so far are definitely far from the ordinary too, usually referencing classic footage from different films.
The Bullitts isn’t just a guest-heavy pop album a la Mark Ronson, it’s a full-blown illustrated interactive story, turned album, turned film. “It’s like a 5D movie. You can read it, listen to it, watch it,” says Samuel, attempting to explain. At the root of The Bullitt’s first project is a story. It’s the tale of fictional character Amelia Sparks (played by actress Lucy Liu), a murderer on the run… Jeymes Samuel Via Newsbeat
Video below of Close Your Eyes which grabbed my attention instantly! Bizzare, profound and definitely something you won’t understand at first glance!
For the past month or so Dan Hillier’s illustrations have been presented at the Dalston Print House reception, which also doubles up as an exhibition space – DOPE!
It is really difficult to walk by this reception and NOT pay any attention to his work; its slightly dark, surreal and most definitely thought-provoking, definitely ticks all the boxes for me. I found myself picking up on details that I failed to notice the first time round and also thinking about the story that each piece is trying to tell.
This episode of PP Presents wasn’t planned, at the right place at the right time I guess! Lee, Portia, Husk and myself ended up here after missing the 6 o’clock screening of ‘Tree of Life’ due to the rush hour through the busiest parts of East London – Hackney – SHAME! BTW, ‘Tree of Life’ is SH*T, it does have its moments, but mostly filled mad abstract pieces of dialogue and visuals. I don’t even want to start with the dinosaurs now, how did he win that Palm D’ior award??? OK enough!
The whole idea of doing the actual interview happened when I was speaking to Sam, who just happened to be around downstairs. I did want to film his work, and mostly storyboarded all the shots in my head, but without the artist himself. This day happened to be 2 weeks since he opened and was the main launch for his illustrations!
One of the biggest problems I found with filming on Canon SLR camera’s is the SOUND! MAJOR ISSUES came from the sound, it can literally make or break your edit. Sam had a zoom mic upstairs so we approached Dan to see if he would be up for doing a ‘spur-of-the-moment’ kind of video interview.
This is the result below, it also happened to be a really nice sunny evening, with NO rain..!
You can still see Dan Hillier’s illustrations until the 31st of July at the Dalston Print House, Ashwin Street, so HURRY!
Thanks to Husk and Lee for having the patience and helping me make some sense of this edit, they’ve seen the edit like 50 billion times!
We are looking for people to do interviews with, we are open for suggestions so comment below or email us!
Enjoy,Share and get in touch!
See you at the next episode!

“This video was built on the hype and importance of the internet. NYC legends and hotspots, twitter personalities, quotes and everything hyped good or bad weather. I was intrigued by this character my friend Ben Solomon had on his avatar and approached him via twitter and email to talk about a concept. He came over an we sketched out a few things and brainstormed. This is the modern day Waldo. Can u spot anyone? #isityou?” –TL
Consistently dropping dope shit, be it garments or visuals. LOVE the way these guys operate, from subtle details in the titles where the text breaks into leaves!
BRANDS should take note of the lookbook, your not selling a product but more of an IDEA!..
Watch Inception again, you’ll know what I mean.
